Summary of Outreach Activities

 

1.

Intel representative on Central Texas National Engineer’s Week Committee, 2002 and 2005.  Intel site  co-leader for volunteer visits to Blackshear Elementary, Kealing Jr High, Mendez Middle and Westlake High School for 2001, 2002, 2005 and 2006.  Coordinated with teachers and administration the classroom visits by 30 Intel Involved volunteers for National Engineer’s Week activities.  Mentored and trained volunteers on classroom presentations and activities.

 

2.

Attended the PBS sponsored Zoom Into Engineering Summit in Washington DC, Oct 2001.  Received training on activities and techniques to encourage engineering learning in Elementary education.  Collaborated in a team of three to disperse the Zoom training to Austin Engineer Week volunteers from IBM, Dell,  Applied Materials, Freescale, 3M and LCRA.

 

3.

Industry Mentor for University of Texas at Austin Women in Engineering Program, 9/94 – 9/02.  Helped undergraduate and graduate women in resume writing, job search and interview techniques. Lego Robotics team mentor and judge for 6th and 7th grade girls for week long summer camp. Annual participant in 2 day summer camp to encourage honor roll high school juniors to consider an engineering education at UT.

Invited Intel Austin presenter for Bridgepoint Elementary Science Day, ‘02 – ’06. Demonstrated Silicon Manufacturing Processing using Intel Sugar Cookie Wafer Fab activity to K – 2nd graders.

Intel Involved judge for Invent Austin Science Fair, ‘01, ‘03 and ’05.

GirlStart volunteer ‘00 – ’02.
